Consulting

Relocating to new space? Expanding within a building?
Consolidating facilities?

RAS provides a full menu of consulting services, from the simple to the complex, designed to save money and ensure a smooth and professional transition.

Why do I need a consultant?

Relocation is an expensive, multifaceted process that requires a complicated series of decisions. The planning process involves issues of timing, budgeting, logistics, labor, equipment and technology. A wrong decision in any of these factors can send a budget spinning out of control, or create delays that shut down your business. Even if a facilities manager has experience with these issues, he or she may not have enough staff to oversee a relocation project.

What does RAS provide?

RAS offers expertise for every facet of the relocation process. Perhaps you desire a comprehensive relocation plan, or maybe you just want an experienced supervisor to supplement your staff on the night of the move. It's all about your needs.

What does it cost?

We guarantee our costs are the most competitive in the industry. RAS works on an hourly rate or fee basis. In some cases, it costs the client nothing out of pocket, because we replace a supervisor typically provided by the mover. So you can add our expertise to your project team without adding to your project budget.

What services does RAS offer?

RAS starts by helping the client produce a clear statement of the project's objectives. We conduct surveys at the origin and destination to determine the scope of the project and the logistics involved. We then work with the client to design a thorough Request for Proposal (RFP) to be sent to the most qualified contractors. The goal is to elicit uniform bids that allow the project team to make meaningful cost comparisons between vendors. The RFP will discuss the move plan and spell out the requirements of potential bidders. RAS coordinates and lead a Proposers' Conference, taking the potential movers on a walk-through inspection and providing an orientation of the project. Our role is not to choose the mover, but to ensure our clients are informed buyers of relocation services. If the client desires, RAS can help evaluate the proposals, bringing its own experience and knowledge of the marketplace to the table in analyzing the cost differentials between bids. A short list can then be organized and these vendors invited to come back for final interviews and presentations. RAS can also visit some of the projects underway by the finalists to ascertain the quality of work performed, as well as double-checking references. RAS will provide final recommendations if desired. RAS then supervises the Pre-Move, Relocation and Post-Move phases of the project.
